The Pikmin—creatures that are part animal and part plant—were discovered by Captain Olimar when he was shipwrecked on the planet.
Pikmin are born as seeds and then buried in the ground.
After a while, they sprout. If you pluck them, they will follow. Up to 100 Pikmin can be called upon to follow Olimar and Louie.
Pikmin perform a variety of actions when commanded by their leader.
If you leave a Pikmin in the ground instead of plucking right away, the leaf on its head becomes a bud, and after a while, the bud will flower. The more a Pikmin grows, the faster it moves.
Pikmin already plucked can grow by drinking nectar.
